This is a present to all of us who are conscious of ‘being’. And alive! Not fearing a concealed mine as we or our child step into a field. Not having to live with the threat of drone strikes and bombs when s plane happens to fly over where we live.

Happy Birthday 🎈 Tim, especially to you, and every one who can donate or would like to.

Happy birthday! Thank you for your thoughtfulness in creating these opportunities to support the people of Ukraine in keeping them safe. 🙏🏽 A bigger perspective would be, why aren't we doing these kinds of actions in other countries that are under assault? Why is no one expanding this model for those countries?

Happy birthday. I kicked in a donation. I wanted to do more but I’ve been giving my extra money to down ballot blue candidates.

Why doesn’t the US military provide this money for these worthy projects?

The US government often does, but can only do so after the funding has been approved by Congress and signed by the President - something that takes time and horse-trading. Efforts like this try to bridge the gap.

Do you have an example of a worthy improvised project like this that the government has funded?

Not off the top of my head. But if you go back and look, you'll find a fairly common progression from impossible to do-able.

Thank you and Happy Birthday, Prof Snyder. You have contributed so much through your lifetime's work and your commitment to real people.

I support de-mining. Thank you for making more public this effort. We can donate, and we can advocate for both de-mining by the US, and we can advocate for elimination of use of mines through international agreement and law.

Wishing you a full and fortunate lifetime of living.

Contribution complete!

This reminded me of this Reuters report from a year ago: https://youtu.be/65AcEc9PD_w?si=TWfWL21P53GZXejz

Ukrainian farmer Oleksandr Kryvtsov is using a remote-controlled tractor, made with protective panels stripped from damaged Russian military vehicles, to remove mines left in his fields after Moscow's invasion.

And for your 55: https://www.smashups.com/display/v1/3438084/1057/2 Bill Shatner wishes you well!

Happy Birthday! I am so grateful for you and your knowledge of the history of Ukraine and Russia. I've learned so much from you (having listened to your free Yale lectures on this subject) and am delighted to make a contribution (wish it could be more) to this extremely worthy cause. I had no idea that this brilliant technology exists.
