Yes! Well done sir. I had a conversation with 2 of my high school students 2 days ago (one self identified D, one Rep) and we found common ground partly through the understanding that corporate funded media outlets mostly sell us propaganda on both sides and that if we get past the lies and think/research/ read independent journalists etc. for ourselves we have a lot of common goals (specifically economic) that are possible. These 2 students had not spoken to each other previously and I was told they ended up continuing the conversation after class. my hope is if we can get people talking to one another about what we have in common rather than what divides us we will be able to change our trajectory. This conversation gave me a concrete example of this and gave me faith that we can do this as a people. May be our only hope? I want to talk to more students but pushback from parents may be fierce. Any advice appreciated.
