Our Supreme Court is controlled by oligarchs. Paraphrasing The Everly Brothers,it looks like “our goose is cooked, our reputation is shot.” Only a charismatic leader with integrity offers a possible exit. That might be Kamala Harris.
Charismatic moral leader. Values based leadership. Servant leadership. This is what I see in Harris Walz. These are the leadership straights that have the power to transform society to a more perfect Union. As opposed to a more perfect division, that the radical Libertarian Evangelical hydrocarbon Republican Oligarchs desire.
I don't think charismatic leadership is an exclusive solution. Group action is what the oligarchs oppose and fear. In short, they are opposed to democracy, unions, the civil rights movement. We the people beat them by exercising and empowering those institutions and tendencies for the common good.
The Senate immigration bill contradicted their political theory, being grounded in reality, pragmatic, and potent. That's why it was like kryptonite to them.
The Impotence of government stands in contrast to what I call the "delusion of omnipotence" held by malignant narcissists (Trump, Vance, the GOP, Stalin, Hitler, etc.). I am infallible, I alone can fix it, I am always innocent, I am always being maligned by insane, evil, godless, enemies who are envious of my omnipotence; I will live forever; I am all you need. Erich Fromm (Escape from Freedom; The Heart of Man: His Genius for Good and Evil; The Anatomy of Human Destructiveness) understood the delusion of omnipotence, as I do, as the means by which insane paranoid malignant narcissists keep themselves from going completely insane (e.g., Jim Jones, Manson, Berg, etc.). The delusion of omnipotence is the dam that holds back the constant threat of decompensation. And destroying enemies, enforcing fascist purges, martial law, etc., keeps that dam from bursting. When Trump loses this election, and if his criminal plots to steal it fail (big IF), that dam is going to burst, and we're going to see a level of insanity - well, as Al Jolson would say, you ain't seen nothing yet.

The modern figure most associated with with the study of malignant narcissism was my ( Dr Lees) former teacher Otto Kernberg , ( 1970), who defined the syndrome as having four components; 1. narcissistic personality disorder, 2. antisocial behavior,
3. paranoid traits , and 4. sadism.
Kernberg told The NY Times that malignant narcissistic leaders such as Hitler and Stalin are “ able to take control because their inordinate narcissism is expressed in grandiosity, a confidence in themselves , and assurance that they know what the world needs” ( Goode 2003). At the same time, they express their aggression in cruel and sadistic against their enemies : “ whoever does not submit to them or love them”.
As Pollock (1978) wrote, “ the malignant narcissist is pathologically grandiose, lacking in conscience and behavioral regulation , with characteristic demonstrations of joyful cruelty and sadism.”
Differences between normal narcissism and malignant narcissism are huge. The latter is far rarer, more pathological and dangerous, and more often than not , the difference between life and death.
