The Ukrainian Night is one of the books I gave to friends after Trump was elected, as a way of encouraging-giving courage. Once again the Ukrainians are showing us what courage looks like. And the history of Ukrainian-Polish relations and what is happening now give me hope that more transformation is possible. The future is not fixed-this moment proves that, in so many ways. Thank you and Dr. Shorr for helping me see that.
Thank you Professor Snyder. I am just back from volunteering in Medyka and Krakow and the Polish people have indeed been an inspiration for all nations.
Thank you for the suggestions of legitimate and helpful humanitarian organizations in Poland. It is not always easy to know the best places for contributions. The Ukrainian Night, along with Black Earth and Bloodlands have been priceless for helping me understand Central/Eastern European history better. Thank you!
Thank you for making the distinction between Polish government and Polish citizens. The help back when you wrote this text and now is still predominantly carried by Polish volunteers and ngo's with very little constructive input from the government. During the first weeks of the war it was all volunteers at the border crossings and reception centers. We were going 16-18h without sleep, making up the rules and structures as we went along.
Thank you for unpacking the significance of the place where President Biden gave his address. Unfortunately too many people are focused on the "9 words" that escaped his thoughts into the microphone. Is there a link to the Yale site where books can be ordered or downloaded? I had not heard of The Ukrainian Night before.

Thank you Tim. You are the historian of the hour - an hour in desperate need. Louis

Thank you very much for your explanations.
Thank you for the historical perspective as always and especially the opportunity to take part in helping the Ukrainian refugees in Poland.
The Reconstruction of Nations is also available on Nook, Barnes&Noble's e-book platform.
Thank you
